Leo Charter Night Program

Some things to consider:
-Have Leos “in uniform” (vest, t-shirt, if you have them)
-Have one or two Leos serve as the “greeting committee”
-Go over Lions protocol ahead of time so they know we stand for dignitaries.
-Give the Leo president an opportunity to say a few remarks and let him/her know ahead of time so they can prepare
-If possible, have a sound system
-Have Leos stand in a “receiving line” at the end so people can greet/congratulate them
-Remind Leos to stick around for pictures
-Remember, you don’t have to do all of this-just what feels right for your club
Some of this info and the member induction/officer installation can be found on the LCI website, or click here. (Opens in PDF)

Welcome
Lions club president or Leo advisor-a good job for Denny!

Pledge to Flag
Could possibly be led by Leo member.

Singing of America
Optional - suggested if this is a tradition in your Lions club. This could also be done as part of the closing.

Invocation
Traditional if there is a meal, still OK even if not. Might be good for one of your Lions to do.

Introduction of Guests and Lions
Good for a Lion who knows protocol to do; also invite parents to stand and recognize their contributions to supporting their youth in this endeavor.

History of WOW Leo Club
Good for kids to write and do-how did their club get started? What have they done so far?

Speaker
If there is one, but not necessary to have. Sate Chair Tonja Wienck would be glad to make some brief remarks at some time in the deal.

Induction Ceremony
There is no set format for this, but one of the most meaningful ceremonies is a candlelight ceremony that has one Lion assigned to each Leo. The Lions lead the Leos in in darkness and there is a little ceremony where the light is “passed” to the Leos. We can do something like this or something a little less “dramatic”. Either way I can bring this and lead the Leos through it. Just let me know what you think your Lions will go for/what you’d like to do.

Presentation of Leo Pins and Certificates
Leo advisors give pins, Lions president to give certificates.

Signing of Leo Charter
If you have submitted your organizational paperwork, you should have received this. Tt is traditional that the charter members will all sign it at this point. If you don’t have it yet, this can be done later.

Presentation of Charter
Traditionally done by highest Lion dignitary present.

Initiation of New Members
Can be done by district Leo chair or other Lion dignitary; whoever does it needs to read through the text first. Also need to break up the text that Leos have to repeat into small parts a few words at a time.

Installation of Officers
Can be done by district Leo chair or other Lion dignitary, whoever does it needs to read through the text first. Also need to break up the text that Leos have to repeat into small parts a few words at a time.

Presentation of Leo
Leo president to Lion president. Patch to Lions Club.

Presentation of Gifts

Door Prizes (Optional)

Closing Remarks
Advisor or Leo President-thanks to all who came to share in the special evening, etc.

Closing Song
Let There Be PeaceOn Earth or optional other song.
